The Dallas Film Society hosts a film festival every year called the Dallas International Film Festival. When I first graduated college and was trying to figure out what I was going to do with my degree, I decided to sign up as a volunteer for the festival for networking purposes. After a volunteer meeting, I offered up my photography expertise and sure enough they had a place for me on the photo line. I'm so glad I asked! This film festival jump started my career and allowed me to have a wonderful relationship with the people in the Dallas Film Society.
